Jon Stewart took on people "speaking crazy to power" last night. Rep. Michele Bachmann recently said that President Obama is going to put our children in reeducation camps, and Sean Hannity congratulated her for her crusade against tyranny. Stewart followed this clip with a brilliant & cogent litany of moves the Bush administration made to reduce American freedoms, transparency, and state's rights, and said the pair were confusing "tyranny" with "losing." Yes, crazy right-wingnuts, I've tasted that S**t Taco way too many times! It is bad, but it's democracy.

I respect Mike Huckabee, he's a smart man who lives his values. I do fundamentally disagree with his stance on gay marriage. It's not about religion or choice. No gay man or woman I've ever known has chosen to be gay. It's not about reproduction or propagating the species. It's about despicably unfounded fear of and perverse curiosity for, that thing gays do WITH one another.
I chose my religion. I didn't choose to be heterosexual. I'm a good father. I'd still be a good father if I were born gay. I will not use God to impugn the human rights of an already oppressed group of people. It's against my morals, my values, my testimony, my religion and most of all my God!
Those who read this blog may remember that a month ago I received an advance copy of her new book The Wordy Shipmates to review and I'm sad to say, I haven't finished it yet so have yet to review it. Life sorta got in the way and I just wasn't feeling the Puritans, even via the extraordinary Ms. Vowell. I WILL read it and review it soon, promise.
I twittered that I wouldn't talk about politics on here for a while, but can you blame me for sharing?
